For tuxedo pants, typically button holes can be found where you can easily button on your suspenders to your pants. Button-on suspenders are much more formal and a perfect choice for a black-tie wedding. Not all tuxedo pants have buttons for attaching button-on suspenders though, and this is definitely something to check out before selecting your trousers to pair with your suspenders. Additionally, buttons can always be added to trousers to fit button-on suspenders. 

Should I Wear Clip-On or Button-On Suspenders?

It all comes down to the type of trousers you want to wear. Clip-on suspenders are an easy choice, as they work with any type of trouser, whether buttons are present or not. Button-on suspenders, however, require buttons on the inside of the pants for easy attachment.
